Amanda Velez

Amanda Velez, MS, CCC-SLP, is a bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist with a passion for helping children communicate, build confidence, and become more independent in their everyday lives. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Eastern New Mexico University.

Amanda has experience working with children across a variety of settings and ages, from infants and toddlers to school-aged children. Her clinical experience includes pediatric feeding therapy, early language development, articulation, literacy, social communication, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). She also gained valuable experience providing teletherapy during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing her to develop creative and engaging ways to support children and families beyond the traditional therapy setting.

Amanda believes that speech therapy should never be “one size fits all.” Every child has different strengths, interests, preferences, and goals, and she believes therapy should reflect that. If a child loves Paw Patrol, you can probably expect a lot of Paw Patrol to make its way into therapy! By incorporating each client’s interests, Amanda creates therapy that is fun, motivating, meaningful, and individualized.

One of Amanda’s biggest goals is helping families take the skills learned in therapy and carry them into the home and community. While it is wonderful to see a child succeed in the therapy room, Amanda believes the most meaningful progress happens when those skills are generalized to real-life situations. She works closely with families and other members of a child’s team to make communication functional and meaningful beyond the therapy room.

As a bilingual SLP, Amanda welcomes both English- and Spanish-speaking families and is passionate about supporting culturally and linguistically diverse children and their families.

Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, getting creative, and making memories with her children. She brings her warm personality, creativity, and genuine love for helping children into everything she does as an SLP.
