Emily Shimek

Emily Shimek is an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about helping children build confidence, independence, and the skills needed to thrive in their everyday lives. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2019, her Behavioral Studies Certification from Ball State University in 2022, and her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in Austin in 2023. Prior to becoming an OT, Emily worked in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for nearly four years, gaining extensive experience supporting children on the autism spectrum.

Throughout her career, Emily has worked with children with a variety of developmental disabilities and enjoys providing individualized, play-based therapy that builds on each child’s unique strengths and interests. She values building strong therapeutic relationships and collaborating closely with families and other members of the child’s care team to support meaningful progress, increased confidence, and greater independence in everyday activities.
